As a lawyer, I advise, contract and litigate on the legal aspects of large-scale and complex data processing, with a focus on privacy and ICT law and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Through the years, I have gained extensive experience with different types of clients and legal issues. Therefore, I’m able to quickly identify opportunities and obstacles. I always strive for pragmatic solutions and for personal and informal contact with the client.
From 2009 to 2014 I was legal counsel to the Dutch National ICT Institute in Healthcare (Nictiz). In this position I have gained specific expertise in the field of eHealth and electronic data processing in healthcare.
Prior to my career as a lawyer, I obtained my PhD at the Institute for Information Law (IViR) of the University of Amsterdam on the fundamental protection of anonymous communication.
I provide various courses in the field of privacy law and speak frequently about various legal topics.
I have has registered Privacy law as the principal legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister). Based on this registration, I am required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in this legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
